How to apply

It’s easy. Just email us a PDF document containing:

1. A copy of your acceptance letter from your post-secondary institution. Congratulations!
2. A one-page letter describing your plans for post-secondary and highlighting any grades, extra-curricular activities, volunteering, employment, special skills or certificates that you are especially proud of (because we’re proud of you, too.)
3. A personal reference letter written by an adult who is not a relative.

Make sure your full name, phone number and email address are also in this document.

Applications are accepted until May 31st every year. You can expect to hear back in June.

FAQs

Who is eligible?

Applicants must be permanent residents of Galiano Island who demonstrate financial need and have been accepted to a recognized post-secondary program in Canada. Applicants do not need to be entering into their first year of study, and there is no age limit.

How much can I get?

Up to $1,000.00

When is the deadline to apply?

The deadline is the same every year: May 31st

Is the bursary deferrable?

No, but applicants are invited to re-apply when they are ready to enrol.
